Primal Fusion comes out of the closet

“Thought Networking” will be a part of the next market dispruption, according to Yvan Couture, CEO, Primal Fusion. Like Microsoft was to personal computing, RIM and the BlackBerry was to pushable mobile email, and Google was to relevant advertising (ok, they do okay with search, too, but Yvan contended it was ubiquitious advertising accessible to the masses which really made Google what it is today). Of course, I’m paraphrasing, but as Yvan presented this morning at Communitech’s kickoff Techworking Breakfast with the Boss at the Waterloo Inn.
For the big skinny on Primal Fusion, you have to consult “An Introduction to Thought Networking“, today’s blog post by Peter Sweeney, Founder and CTO.
But the really important part about what Primal is doing is differentiating itself from search, and providing a semantic heuristic layer to aggregating information on the web. “It’s a lot like social networking, but it isn’t social networking. And it’s not another search. It will be difficult for people to wrap their heads around this. It’s Thought Networking,” said Yvan.
My take on this tech is that Primal could be onto something; its hard to imagine people won’t love something that is sort of like social networking, sort of like a smarter search, and a lot like something they’ve never seen before. The proof will be in the indispensibility of the tools they’re creating — in a world where no one wants to manage yet another personal profile and everyone has wild on-demand expectations for web 3.0 and ’smart’ search, Primal’s going to have a tough time standing out in the emerging market for semantic web.
It’s pretty exciting that Primal Fusion decided to use a Communitech forum to ‘come out of the closet’. We thank Yvan for past and current foresight when it comes to supporting our tech community; he was one of the big original founders of Communitech and clearly he’s remained top of mind in tech around these parts.
So my only question is Yvan, how do I get in on the ‘alpha’ beta test group ?

My colleague Chuck Howitt at the Record wrote an interesting story about this company last week and also has a neat story about how this company got its name in today’s Net Gain business blog, therecord.blogs.com/netgain/
